The role

Our client is currently recruiting for a talented Paid Search Director to work in one of the most extraordinary, innovative and powerful brands in the world.

This is a strategic role that covers media strategy, planning and buying in Paid Search platforms such as any of the following platforms Google Adwords/Marin/Bing/Yandex. You will be exposed to the campaign development process from beginning to end – working alongside an in-house creative team that influences comms planning, media, and strategy.

Day to day, you will support and lead the team through all facets of Paid Search:

• Developing local and tailoring global strategies for up to 23 EMEA markets, across both branding and e-commerce campaigns
• Department management, vision, structure and recruitment, ensuring team members’ career progression and client satisfaction
• Comfortable navigating the complexities of a large client
• Flexibility to work closely with a wide variety of client stakeholders across a variety of European countries and departments
• Ensure Paid Search strategy is integrated with other media channels and aligned with global and local best practices and comms planning strategy.
• Ensure planned ROI, revenue performance, and KPIs are achieved.
• Build and manage client and internal relationships and comms
• Liaise with partners and networks on strategy, new opportunities, best practices, and measurement
• Constructively challenge decisions and provide a POV on how to bring the account to a new level
• Drive overall account strategy, and oversee execution, optimisation, and insights
• Manage and improve cross functional reporting and measurement
• Create a culture of collaboration, always anticipating clients’ response and pre-emptying questions.
• QA team work in order to achieve the required levels of quality, whilst also providing a rationale behind the work being delivered
• Working alongside the global team
• Lead and mentor a team of at least 10 people

Essential job responsibilities

Team leadership

• Manage and motivate a team of at least 10 people to ensure the highest quality of work is being delivered
• Manage upwards, making sure the leadership team is updated on ongoing activity and overall client relationship
• Work with the Managing Partner, planning team and global team to help identify opportunities for improving client service and overall account performance and processes
• Lead and manage relationship with global teams, working in collaboration to ensure alignment and best practices are in place
• Full understanding and control of the level of resource being utilised
• Ensure the highest quality of work is delivered by implementing best practices and following processes
• Manage the integration with other teams - cross media, account, and creative
• Perform appraisal meetings and 121 catch ups
• Identify training and development needs of client team
• Create and present inductions for new team members
• Lead hiring process for Paid Search team members
Account & campaigns

• Development and ongoing refinement of Paid Search media strategy
• Capable of identifying relevant and actionable opportunities for the brand
• Ensure the strategy is integrated with cross media plans and creative recommendations
• Ensure team provide clear and proactive rationale on campaign planning and strategy, with strategic insights and recommendations
• Ensure daily optimisation of live campaigns is done to achieve client objectives and KPIs
• Actively participate in the planning, buying and QAing of campaigns
• Lead the development of processes, methodologies, best practices and frameworks for client team; work with team members to ensure these are being applied
• Ensure best practices are being used and brainstorm new approaches to achieving client goals and account growth
• Manage and develop campaign A/B tests and new and innovative ways of doing Paid Search, whilst also adhering to brand’s objectives
• Identify potential upsell opportunities to provide additional analysis and insight to new pillars, products and/or markets
• Successfully manage and deliver campaigns focused on product launches and announcements
• Lead weekly status across all regions, both internally and with clients
• Help identify and test new channels and products, highlighting results and sharing with internal teams and clients
• Ensure flawless execution across the board

Budget
• Management of budget across campaigns, including quarterly estimates, as well as budget pacing
• Ability to forecast and plan budget allocation and spend
• Ensure the correct exchange rates and fees are being applied

Reporting
• Keep track of reporting schedules and templates
• Ensure Paid Search team proactively provide insights on performance and optimisation recommendations on an ongoing basis
• Coordinate and present reports to global and local teams and clients, including PCAs and QBRs
• Overseeing of performance against campaign objectives and KPIs
• Support comms planning and marketing science teams in implementing brand studies and new report templates

Client

• Development of senior client relationship and internal relationship and comms, being the primary point of contact for client queries and escalations
• Have regular client meetings and promptly address client feedback
• Foster a culture of proactivity and leadership, aiming to provide best in class client service
• Present plans, reports and overall account status to client on a weekly basis
• Lead weekly client status meetings, being responsible for quality of content being presented and following up on required actions
• Create and present inductions to new and existing clients
• Keep up to date on latest digital developments to create client POVs on new opportunities and platforms
• Provide competitive analysis and review on a quarterly basis with clients
• Ensure all Paid Search media projects are meeting client expectations, quality and hitting deadlines

Partners & Networks

• Maintain strong relationship with vendor partners, Search networks and technology suppliers to stay ahead of latest market trends and developments
• Responsible to ensure all client teams are informed about new providers or updates to existing technologies and products

Qualifications

• In depth relevant experience in Paid Search, with well-rounded branding and e-commerce knowledge
• Ability to sell Paid Search both internally and externally
• A track record of delivering market-leading Paid Search strategy for leading brands
• Business and goals driven; commercial acumen with a proven ability to manage and grow a team and revenue
• Proactive approach to work and client management
• Strong knowledge of technology / telco vertical
• Excellent client facing skills, with polished presentation, communication, and analytical skills
• Have strong organisational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Proven experience in managing a team
• Ability to motivate and lead a team and manage upwards
• Hands-on approach and passion for working in a fast-paced team
• Experience in working on regional or global accounts
• Maintain gravitas, forward thinking and strategic initiative
• Fully conversant with digital media and able to think across the whole media mix
• Understanding of local media landscapes in EMEA
• Proficient in Excel
